The Association of European Bedfeather and Bedding Industries" (EDFA) promotes the interests of its members through the provision of written information, selective committee work, the organization of meetings and the representation of the interests of its members outwardly.
According to the articles of association, the following may apply for membership in the EDFA:
- companies in the bedfeather industry in Europe
- companies in the bedding industry in Europe
- companies in the ticking industry in Europe
- companies in the chemical industry
- testing institutions in Europe.
The following services are available:
I. Standardisation
- regular information on the status of the work of TC 222
- assistance with establishing a labelling of the filling material in compliance with the standards
- training and seminars on the testing, definitions and requirements standards of TC 222 (at reputable testing institutions or at the enterprises of our members)
- active participation and consultation on the standards adopted and being developed
- exchange of experiences in the application of the already adopted standards as part of a technical commission comprising international members
II. Scientific Studies and Consultancy Services
e.g. on the following subjects:
- house dust mite allergy
- microclimate under the duvet/
- collecting feathers
- comfort capacity of duvets
III. Business (Policy) Issues
- information on current import and export regulations
- statistics (import and export)
- representation of the interests of the members vis-à-vis international organisations, government agencies and working groups
Moreover, there are ongoing reports on current issues. The opinions of the members are solicited through regular meetings, telephone conferences and circular letters.
The annual membership meeting informs the members in summarised form about the current issues. Furthermore, the membership meeting is responsible for discussing and adopting resolutions on all of the formal details (elections to the board, approval of the budget, etc.)
